Currently showing in Melbourne as part of Yirramboi Festival, Holding Space is a powerful new immersive exhibition by Jirra Lulla and Apryl Day — two proud Yorta Yorta women with deep ancestral ties to the small, vibrant community of Cummeragunja.
Centred around a short film co-created with Garuwa production company, Holding Space is a love letter to Cummeragunja, its Elders and community.
Through various mediums, Apryl and Jirra explore the duality of grief and joy as it exists within Aboriginal communities, and honour their Elders in the most heartfelt way.
