Algonquin Backcountry Camping Closed Until May 2025

Similar to every Spring, the backcountry in Algonquin Provincial Park is closed until May 1st, 2025 (weather dependent)…

Due to unpredictable ice out conditions, backcountry camping is currently closed from April 1 to May 1. If conditions allow, we will open backcountry camping reservations up before May 2.

Until backcountry camping is open you cannot make backcountry reservations and there are no first-come, first-served campsites. This applies to both backpacking and paddling.

If you’re thinking of doing a spontaneous trip into the backcountry it is best that you check the latest alerts for Algonquin.
