Add blood plasma replacement to the list of things a well-heeled New Yorker can do with $10,000 and a couple of hours to spare in Midtown Manhattan. The new-age treatment is one of the more expensive of the myriad offerings in the city’s alternative wellness economy, where several sectors are gaining a foothold – from ketamine therapy for depression to hyperbaric oxygen chambers for inflammation, and concierge IV drips for a general lift.
More than 70 ketamine, oxygen and IV clinics have opened throughout the city in recent years, with concentrations in commercial districts from the Upper East Side to Lower Manhattan and Downtown Brooklyn. In a six-block square between Grand Central Terminal and Times Square residents and suburban commuters can visit a single store selling all three. A short subway ride up or down Lexington Avenue can connect customers to even more diverse options, from cryotherapy chambers to plasma exchanges.
