Sea To Summit Releases Their All Season Ether Light XR and XR Pro

Sea to Summit have introduced their next generation sleep system the Ether Light XR and XR Pro that aims to combine maximum warmth, minimal weight and all-season performance.

With the launch of the Ether Light XR and XR Pro, we’re not just evolving our technology—we’re raising the bar for comfort and performance in the backcountry. Whether you’re deep into a thru-hike or setting up camp in snowy alpine conditions, the XR and XR Pro deliver warmth and reliability without compromise.

— Sea to Summit Brand Manager, Margaux Maertens

At the core of the Ether Light XR series is Thermal Core Insulation, a breakthrough design that suspends a reflective film inside the mat to trap radiant body heat and minimize internal air movement. This advanced insulation boosts thermal efficiency without adding bulk, delivering serious cold-weather performance in an ultralight package. Combined with Air Sprung CellTM technology, liquid-extruded TPU lamination, and RF welds, the result is a mat that offers plush, reliable comfort in any terrain.

With an ASTM-tested R-Value of 4.1, 10cm of cushion, and weighing in at just 470 grams, the Ether Light XR Pro is ideal for thru-hikes, alpine treks, and minimalist backcountry missions.

For winter adventures, the Ether Light XR Pro delivers expedition-grade insulation with a staggering R-Value of 7.4, the highest ever from Sea to Summit. Engineered with multiple suspended thermal layers, the XR Pro is built for alpine routes, ski touring, and extreme cold. Despite its warmth, it weighs only 560 grams, making it 22% lighter and a 79% smaller pack volume than the previous model. With double the weld strength and a 10cm profile, the XR Pro sets a new standard for high-performance winter sleeping pads.
