On Trend: Walk The A-Line

A-line skirts have been on trend for quite some time and there is no surprise that this will continue into 2015. With the holidays coming close to end, we should all be thankful for the stealth slimming effect of the A-line skirt.

Full of girly appeal made for a lady with a nice pair of stems and an impossible figure pleasing silhouette, this will be the most polished way to ease into your holiday coma. Instead of hugging your backside and thighs like a pencil skirt, the A-line silhouette lends a flattering nip-waisted effect-leaving more freedom to move.

You can thank Christian Dior for this flattering design, who in 1955, first launched the A-line design in his spring collection in 1955. Deeming it the “most wanted silhouette in Paris”, and was paired with a  “fingertip-length flared jacket worn over a dress with a very full, pleated skirt.”

If you need any further proof as to why this is a classic staple (and not just for hiding holidays pounds), just look to the fall runways, where the A-line reigned supreme at a variety of lengths. Kenzo, Carven, and Michael Kors all have us wanting to show flashes of skin and challenge the cold winter chill.

Try going bare legged, in ankle boots, knee-high boots or add a pair of trousers to turn up the look.
