Behind the Brand: Oliver Peoples

In this day and age, when all major fashion brands feel like they have to get into every possible accessory sector, it’s highly refreshing to encounter brands that do one thing and one thing only.

Optician Larry Leight started Oliver Peoples with his brother and since then their frame empire has gone viral in the optical sense of the word. Oliver People was founded in 1987 with the opening of its first boutique and subsequent launch of the original collection. From the beginning, Oliver Peoples had a passion for superior product, a distinctive culture rooted in California, and an obsession with service. These core values have remained at the foundation of the brand and endure today. Through an authentic and consistent voice, Oliver Peoples has never relied on a logo but instead on fostering relationships with like-minded consumers who appreciate and respect our approach.

Created by optician to the stars, Leight in the late 1980s, Oliver Peoples has since gone on to become a leading fashion eyewear brand. Designing progressive styles for expressive individuals, the brand has acquired a ‘fash-pack’ following including celebrity fans of the edgier kind.

Handmade to the highest quality with iconic designs that define the brand’s heritage, all their frames are logo-free, letting the design do the talking. Oliver Peoples maintains its allure and continues to be a leading fashion eyewear brand that designs progressive styles for expressive individuals.

Oliver Peoples’ designs are the foundation upon which eyewear was built. The tendency toward or rather the exclusive obsession with plastic frames is distinguished without being dated. You can get your hands on a pair for under $200, and thankfully there is an attention to quality that goes beyond the price. The frames are made in Japan, which has relatively recently stepped up as a challenge to Italy on the eyeglasses scene, and come with their own embossed hard case and microfiber cloth for easy cleaning.
